What types of embossing / key embossing are there?

The key fields on membrane keyboards can be flat or domed.

The standard embossing types include: high embossing, dome or cushion embossing and key edge embossing. While high embossing is used for short-stroke keys, dome or cushion embossing is used for metal snap domes (also known as "metal domes" or "click frogs").

If the surface is to be flat but still allow input, key edge embossing is the ideal solution. This improves the feel on the flat surface.

Individual special shapes are also possible by arrangement.
